Over 300 Fellows, Connectors and guests joined LEADERSHIP Philadelphia to celebrate its 50th Anniversary. A pre-reception with Bob Woodward was held for 70 attendees as other guests gathered for networking time before lunch. As lunch was served Liz welcomed the group and shared LEADERSHIP's a tribute video, and Bob Woodward shared stories and lessons from his time with past presidents. Thank you to everyone that could share this exciting milestone.

Exciting New BRIDGE* Project
Building a bridge through dialogue to advance race relations in Philadelphia

The program consisted of two workshops, leading to the design and production of a mural representing our conversation.

A. Workshop 1: October 26, 2006 from 3:30pm - 6:30pm, Independence Blue Cross
B. Workshop 2: November 14, 2006 from 3:30pm - 6:30pm, Atwater Kent Museum
C. Helping to paint the mural

Dr. Portia Hunt led the first session, a dialog on race relations, while muralist Jane Golden and futurist Medard Gabel led the second session, in which the mural artists collected design ideas. The design was translated into a mural, which BRIDGE participants will help to paint and will dedicate in the spring.

This program is a joint venture of the Urban League of Philadelphia, LEADERSHIP Philadelphia and the Mural Arts Program and is funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Community Advisory Committee.


World famous poet David Whyte, author of The Heart Aroused and counsel to Fortune 500 companies spoke at the Alumni Event at Historic Christ Church. David Whyte is an expert in understanding the dynamics of individuals and organizational work through the insights and imagination of poetry.


NetForm CEO, Harvard faculty member, and social network czar, Karen Stephenson, spoke at the Alumni Breakfast and at the Pyramid Club. Ms. Stephenson, who was introduced to us by Malcolm Gladwell, is working with us to map Philadelphia's connections as part of Leadership's Legacy Project.


Malcolm Gladwell, author of The Tipping Point and his new book, Blink, spoke before a standing room only crowd at the Alumni Breakfast at the Franklin Institute.
