Exciting New BRIDGE* Project
Building a bridge through dialogue to advance race relations in Philadelphia
The program consisted of two workshops, leading to
the design and production of a mural representing our conversation.
A. Workshop 1: October 26,
2006 from 3:30pm - 6:30pm, Independence Blue Cross
B. Workshop 2: November 14, 2006 from
3:30pm - 6:30pm, Atwater Kent Museum
C. Helping to paint the mural
Dr. Portia Hunt led
the first session, a dialog on race relations, while muralist Jane
Golden and futurist Medard Gabel
led the second session, in which the mural artists collected design
ideas. The design was translated into a mural, which BRIDGE participants
will help to paint and will dedicate in the spring.
This program is a joint venture of the Urban
League of Philadelphia, LEADERSHIP Philadelphia and the Mural Arts Program
and is funded by the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation Community
Advisory Committee.
